The Spirit of Giving at Desert Mountain Club
At Desert Mountain Club, we find great value in discovering ways to give back to our teammates, members and community, and are constantly exploring ways to evolve and grow intentionally. Giving back truly is the spirit of kindness that makes this club tick.
Here’s a look at how our members are moving mountains and giving back.
Desert Mountain CARE
Desert Mountain CARE was formed in March 1997. The original $25,000 donation was delivered to Mayo Clinic in a brown paper bag and dedicated exclusively to breast cancer research. Today, CARE’s funding focus has expanded to world-class research, prevention, and early detection and diagnosis of cancer in general.
We are extremely proud to announce that CARE 2022 donors and participants raised a record-breaking total of funds this year equaling $1.2 million dollars to help benefit our cancer research partners at HonorHealth Research Institute and Mayo Clinic AZ.
The generous community support of Desert Mountain CARE (Cancer Awareness through Research & Education), will result in the largest investment into cancer research projects, enabling us once again to embody our CARE Mission: “Funding innovative world-class cancer research.
The Desert Mountain community and our corporate sponsors had fun and gave generously throughout our fundraising year. We held our annual two-day event on April 3 & 4, 2022.
April 3rd was our 25th Anniversary Denim & Diamonds themed gala that was held in a beautifully decorated clubhouse parking lot. Live auction, silent auction, raffle packages, and live music by the Hamptons. We honored and recognized all the volunteers past and present but a special call out to our CARE co-founder, Sylvia Owens. Sylvia and two others were instrumental in the beginning of CARE and is an active member on the CARE Board, 25 years strong.
In 25 years, our donated $9.6 million is living testimony to the generosity of the Desert Mountain community. A community that brings together new and long-time members, volunteers and event participants, corporate and individual donors, all supporting nationally recognized researchers whose work directly impacts patients right here in the Valley. We are proud that we have supported delivery of early cancer detection and more effective life-extending treatments.
Employee Holiday Fund
Desert Mountain Club prides itself on being a world-class Club, not only for our Members, but for our teammates who are dedicated to creating an atmosphere of excellence. Our Members thoughtfully contribute to our special annual Employee Holiday Fund and help spread joy to our extraordinary teammates this holiday season.
Day Of Play
The Desert Mountain Foundation (DMF) will host our third annual Day of Play to raise funds for the employee scholarship program. Last year we raised $80,000 and we hope to exceed that this year! As the name suggests, The Day of Play is a day to play on the Mountain AND a convenient way to support the scholarship program through a direct Club billing pledge. We will have enthusiastic volunteers at all golf courses as well as pickleball, croquet, and bocce ball courts at the entrance to the Sonoran Clubhouse. Members support the Scholarship program to help the Foundation award much-appreciated and much-needed scholarships to employees and their dependents who will be or are attending four-year or two-year colleges, vocational programs or are taking professional development classes.
We cherish the programs that have become traditions but are always looking to evolve in order to create meaningful and unique experiences. On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, we hope you and your family are having a safe, healthy and enjoyable holiday season. Want to make a gift to benefit the community without restrictions? The Desert Mountain Foundation’s Community Fund is a great option.
